In Dragon Age 4, BioWare absolutely needs to make up their mind on what identity they want for their combat scenarios. Of course you could just head canon it but I personally prefer to do the side quests. All trademarks are property of their respective owners in the US and other countries. And the only ones worth doing imo are party members sidequests.
My advice is, profess the story and only do as many side quests as you need to do that.

The Carta Doorman that you initially get into a conversation with is the most difficult enemy in the bunch, so you may want to focus on him first, but either way, it won't affect the outcome of the battle too much. Doing non party members quest are mostly just for loots or exp if you care for those stuffs.

Just do them if people really hate you and you want to build up your relationship with them. To take them on most effectively, gang up on them with your entire party once all other threats around you are nullified. One of the cooler aspects of Dragon Age: Origins was how it allowed players to pick vastly different origin stories for their player character. Without doing any side quests you will eventually hit a level barrier in the main story. Inquisition to its credit did offer some choices in the game, though some players might have missed them. That way, you don't draw out the enemies at both locations simultaneously. The Power System involved players spending large amounts of time doing side quests to attain enough power to continue progressing through the main storyline.
But the Hinterlands has a particularly high percentage of quests that aren't. What talents as the player character should I get in order to complete the side quests the companions won't have the talents for. Also, craft weapons and armor. How you doin' mis amores?

Basically everything below Inner Circle is junk padding content. I would do maybe half of them on a canon playthrough just to build out the world.
Then again, I have two main missions left and 173 power, so it's not like you have to do anywhere close to everything. There is a benefit to collecting all the shards but it isn't all that important if you aren't playing on hard or above, or if you aren't planning on going Dragon hunting in the post-game. I like Coercion but I always like playing characters who tend to be diplomacy lovers and conversation hunters :). Like in Emprise Du Lion the main mission of the zone (which is actually totally optional and you never have to do) is fighting your way through the red templars and eventually retaking the keep for the inquisition. Everyone always advises to get out of the Hinterlands, buts there's actually a couple quests that's recruit agents, which shortens the wait on your war table missions. Honestly I think that obsessing over the side content makes the game worse unless one is truly obsessive about that stuff. The real item of note within, however, is a codex entry that will unlock the straight-forward side quest known as Jammer's Stash. I still have 231 power so it's not required from that standpoint.
I don't suggest you do this before doing the Circle Tower; it really helps to have a dedicated healer.
