The first time I punched this one into Google I ended up at some dubious looking properties, so make sure you head to Minni Ha Ha Road. On the other side of the Highway in Lawson there is another dog friendly walk. You literally cannot see the bottom, and I have seen it referred to as bottomless. With lots of ground to cover, we’ve pulled together our go-to pet-friendly accommodation and cafes.

Another lovely dog friendly walk in the Blue Mountains is on the other side of the highway at Hazelbrook, Terrace Falls walking track is a crescent off a local fire trail. This cottage has such a welcoming air about it and is filled to the brim with antiques and collectables that will have you captivated.

You will need to take the track that continues on from Dantes Glen, and when you reach the ‘No Through Path’ sign on the track look for the path on the other side of the creek. Pets are not allowed on any hiking trails inside the boundaries of the park, even on a leash – except for two specific hiking trails where pets are allowed.

Watch your four-legged friend paddle in the sea and run along the sand with the wind in their ears at Studland Beach. This is one of my go-to routes for an easy walk and it is quite popular, and it is not uncommon to see a number of dogs along the track.

If you know where to look though, there are some fabulous bushwalks in the Blue Mountains that are 100% dog friendly because they are technically on Council land. This enchanting walk leads you through the picturesque Cotswold high street of Broadway, along historic tracks and up to the intriguing Broadway Tower with its spectacular views. Why not explore the local area before lunch or dinner at The Gloucester Old Spot with the nearby Nature Reserve at Coombe Hill, just a 2 minute drive from the pub. The entry to the track is signposted and is right beside the metal fence over the creek on the footpath. Indeed I even found online that dogs were not allowed on this walk, but the sign upon entry states that they are.

Walk-ins are welcome, but proof of vaccination will be required. Explore the ridge top views or wander into the steep valleys. The heathland behind is a haven for native wildlife and feature all six British reptiles. Bluff Reserve is also significant to the rail history of the Blue Mountains. I'm just wondering if anyone can recommend some bush walks where dogs are allowed (outside the national park) which also include swimming holes suitable for the kids too (we're staying for a week in January)? Burnsville is only about 25 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway – which runs 469 miles from Great Smokey National Park in Tennessee all the way to Shenandoah National Park in Virginia. The track to Minnihaha Falls is currently closed, due to rock falls, until further notice. This reserve has historical significance, with walking trails following the original, early 20th century tramways of the Blue Mountains.

Here are a few recommended and official dog-friendly walks in the Blue Mountains. Dog-and-child-friendly bush walks with swimming holes :) - Blue Mountains National Park Forum. At the other end of the track Bedford Pool is a short deviation from the main track, a large swimming hole complete with beach that will be a lovely picnic spot in summer. There isn’t a huge amount of parking though and I would expect this spot to get pretty busy in Summer so this is probably one to head to early.

It does form part of a longer route called Empire Pass, but this crosses into National Park where dogs are not permitted. A number of these also feature waterfalls that your dog will love on a hot summers day.

Length: I haven’t been able to conclusively find reference to how far this route would be, but based on my smartwatch recordings I believe it would be less than 2 kilmetres down and back.

Your four-legged explorers aren’t permitted in any national park area in the Blue Mountains, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t fun to be had! Your dog should have a current vaccination and cannot be left unattended.

If you want to give your dog some time to exercise and play off-leash, the town of Sevierville is just a short drive from Pigeon Forge, and has a great dog park that is open year-round.
