Under the downloadable content tabs nothing shows installed or available to install. It did give a conflict warning to which i ran repair but that doesn't explain why the mod manager would ignore the game files.

I'm not sure why NMM isn't working I use it for Beth games, but have always done DA:O manually myself. Meanwhile, until it receives significant updates to handle them, I don't think Vortex is the appropriate mod manager for DAO/DA2. This removes the DLCs from the loading list.

I've never use the mod manager with DA:O, but the two most common installations are using the Override folder (which you may have to create myself) or using the provided DAzip installer to installl diffrenet camapign mods. I miss the old days when you could use the mod manager for everything. In the mean time I'll go back to NMM as it still works reliably. Some, like lock bash, require .ini editing to set difficulties. Thandal perhaps wasn't aware of the supported games for Vortex (as they change over time). We'll be sure to patch this up in a future update (quite likely the next one) so for now, you may want to use one of the alternatives suggested by theskymoves.

I have been trying to add mods to dragon age origins for my second playthrough, I used nmm originally, but could only get about 7 of my 20 ish mods to work, I did some digging in the files and found that the only mods that were working were mods in the addin folder, not the override folder, I tried copying the other mods to that folder with no success. TY for the clarification on how Vortex handles things!

for any one that wants it to work make a new folder extract the mod manager to the new folder you made.

mine looks like \Users\\Downloads\DOA\mods\override start the modmanager from the folder right click the icons then install. Whatever the appropriate step is, will it delete all mods (installed through Vortex or not), just the mods Vortex installed, or will all of the mods still be there but with the .XML file restored? How does Vortex deal with mod archives that contain multiple either/or options, which many DAO mods have? Having no experience, I can't really tell you wassup. Or can I just "delete" Origins from the games it can access? Same issue; after going through all mods and loading them as per the instructions it made the game go completely vanilla (even ignoring DLC). The best and preferred manager for DAO mods is DAO-ModManager; DA Modder is another option.

1 - Yes, removing that button will prevent automatic downloading into any mod manager, manual install can still be achieved though. NNM mod manager is greate for skyrim but not so much for dragon age origins. Okay, let me answer the ones in which you have questions.

There is currently a known bug with DA:O support whereby Vortex will incorrectly clear addins.xml and add only the most recently installed mod.
It depends on what mods. I used it to install just 3 mods but in the process it ate all of my additional content (it blocked out / ignored/ all DLC and promo pack items). I downloaded my mods through the nexus with the nexus mod manager and almost all of them refuse to work, they got put in a seperate file the folder created, not my DAO folder, so I copied them and put them in my folder. I'm thinking if DAO has a "load order" like some other games, Vortex may have a bug in how it manages it. This process is similar to, but not exactly like, what BethSoft game modders call "Load Order". None of the mods are working. Also, I hate windows 10. Note that even after you get mods properly installed and working, if you repair via Origin, any DAzips may need to be reinstalled yet again... the repair process sometimes overwrites AddIns.xml with a vanilla version.

DAzips and overrides don't work, even the simple drag and drop mods aren't working. With additional apologies for hijacking the discussion, as a modder (of sorts) I'm now curious (and concerned) about a couple of Vortex-related things: Does opting out of the 'download with mod manager' for a mod also remove the option to download with Vortex? There seems to be a little misunderstanding here. All; King Alistair see former lover in Awakening. That didnt work so I moved them into my data folder and they still will not run.
for overrides extract with 7zip to your mod manager folder you made. the nexus manager wont work for Dazip files but will it work for the others? for DAZIP files i just use the DAupdater program in your dragon age origins program folder.
The DAO Modmanager (DAMM) is the better option. The finished Override's are created in the folder. I've been on holiday for the past week and am not yet at my main rig, so I'll dig up that old post when I get back.
Re DAO having a load order, it does, sort of, but not in the same way that Bethesda games do.
You can right-click and choose "open in file manager" to make the changes to the files as required, then when you deploy you'll need to accept the External Changes dialogue.

I think ill have to do a tutorial to show people how to manually install mods, the outcome is much better. It may be a problem with the manager itself not being set-up right for the game, it may be a problem where the wrong floders been set in the paring of the game and NMM.
